July 13 was a big day at Zion Lutheran Church on Franklin Lake, celebrating a โ€œspirit filled year,โ€ said Rev. Anna Monke-Gervais. The campaign to raise funds nearly doubled its goal, and Zion was able to pay for a new roof, heating-air conditioningโ€”plus retire $80,000 in debt.
A โ€œmortgage-burningโ€ ceremony, pictured above outside the church entrance, was held after worship July 13.
