Pelican TOWNSHIP NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING

The Pelican Township Annual Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. in the Pelican Rapids Fire Hall for the purpose of setting the Annual Township Budget Levy. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be held on the third Tuesday in March, the 18th, at the same time and location.
The regular board meeting will immediately follow the annual board meeting.

Pelican earns state school board honor

The first cover of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby” in 1925 features the artwork of Francis Cugat. “Celestial Eyes,” the name of the painting, is inarguably one of the most recognizable book covers ever created.
If you want an original first-edition copy of the book, you’ll need Gatsby-level wealth. When sold with its original dust jacket, “The Great Gatsby” can be one of the most expensive rare books on the market.
The jacket art for Fitzgerald’s “Great American Novel” is one of the most famous book-cover designs of all time. But dust jackets get lost and are easily damaged. A first-edition “Gatsby” without the jacket might cost only a few thousand dollars. But a copy with a decent quality original jacket, with its unusual artwork, sold some years ago for $250,000. By one assessment, there may be only five Gatsby first-editions on the market that have their book jackets still intact.
